On Monday, 27 October 2025, the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna will host Prof. Gwyn Bevan, Emeritus Professor of Policy Analysis at the Department of Management of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), for a workshop focused on efficiency and value in healthcare systems.

During the event, Prof. Bevan will present the STAR (Socio-Technical Allocation of Resources) model, developed through a ten-year research project at LSE with the support of the Health Foundation. The model offers an innovative approach to identifying high- and low-value components along care pathways, overcoming the limitations of traditional indicators such as QALYs (Quality-Adjusted Life Years) and DALYs (Disability-Adjusted Life Years).

The workshop will provide insights into the potential of the STAR method within the English National Health Service (NHS) and, more broadly, the challenges related to resource reallocation and improving the quality of healthcare services.
